John Muiruri

John is a committed human rights advocate, educationist and development worker with over 30 years’ experience working with vulnerable communities including street Children, orphans, working children, women and youth. He has worked mainly in the slums of Nairobi having, started his work at Undugu Society of Kenya, the premier street children programme operating in the streets of Nairobi and Mathare, Majengo, Dandora and Korogocho slums.
He later moved to AMREF Health Africa where founded the Dagoretti Child in Need Project the innovative 4 R model, a Child Protection and Health Programme that uses an artistic approach to
address the health, education, social and developmental needs of the Children and the
community. John joined Action for Children in Conflict in the year 2011 and has led the organization through a transformational phase where acquired innovations and technology are used to address issues of poverty, hunger, health, gender, education, environment, access to justice and human rights. John is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a certified mediator.
